Universal Foresight: A research and innovation ecosystem to advance foresight practice

November 10, 2020

Foresight and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy is an annual international academic conference organised by HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK). It was recognized by the OECD as one of the most important global conferences in the field of Foresight and STI policy.

It is attended by renowned Russian and international scientists and experts, representing more than 20 countries and several international organisations (OECD, UNESCO, UNIDO, etc.), governmental agencies, development institutions, companies, foundations, leading research and educational centers of the world. The conference participants discuss a broad range of topics concerning S&T Foresight and STI policymaking, examine new approaches and instruments of R&D management, and exchange best practices of their application.

At the “STI Policy: How it Will Change after COVID-19” session I made a presentation about “Universal Foresight: A research and innovation ecosystem to advance foresight practice“.

In this blog post I would like to invite the foresight and futures studies community to join a new “grassroots movement” initiated by the Universal Foresight (UF) Editorial Team and the UF International Advisory Board members, aimed at reloading the foresight research and innovation (R&I) ecosystem. To do so, we are mobilising the collective intelligence of genuinely engaged and committed foresight sponsors, practitioners and users in order to draw lessons from influential foresight and futures studies practices and publications in the period 2000-2020 with the ultimate goal of shaping future foresight practices by 2040 and beyond.
